Babies need different types of food for the different stages in their first year. It’s good to have a basic baby feeding schedule so you know when it may be time to start introducing new foods.
For newborns it’s pretty easy, babies age zero to four months should eat breast milk or formula and this should be their main food soure for the first six months. From four to six months you may be able to start introducing soft cereals like dry rice cereal mixed with breast milk or formula.
At eight months you may want to start feeding mashed fruits and vegetables along with the cereal and mother’s milk or formula. By ten months you should be able to start feeding finger foods like cooked pasta, teething crackers and proteins like mashed beans. Of course every child is a little different so watch how they react to the new foods to see if they are handling them alright and adjust accordingly.
